Welcome to Shelton On The Beat

Who we are

Welcome to Shelton, On The Beat! My name is Bryan Lizotte. I am a lifelong Shelton resident, also a magician and owner of the Shelton Gift Boutique. When I was a kid, downtown didn’t have any restaurants but there were a lot of cool shops…and Bars…LOL. And there was always a police officer “On The Beat!” You felt safe walking downtown, day or night. Slowly the shops disappeared, and a few restaurants came in. Now we have a “dining mecca” with a lot of diverse restaurants and small cool shops coming back. In the 1980’s a group of downtown Shelton business owners got together and started “Downtown Shelton Day”. They hoped that it would bring people into downtown and introduce them to the businesses. And it did. As you can see from the photo above, (which I took), the Shelton police estimated that 30,000 people came and enjoyed Shelton Day. Since it was moved to the Riverwalk, it’s lucky to attract 2,000 people. The point of my weekly podcasts are to talk about the great things in Shelton, and things that we can make great in Shelton. Let's not criticize, but offer suggestions and solutions. I invite Shelton businesses, elected officials, event planners and residents to come on my podcasts and discuss what’s important. There is no charge to come on the podcasts. But I will also have some sponsorships. We will have up to 2 sponsors per 30 minute podcast at $25 a spot.
